Tuesday April 29

Good morning from Le Rouret! It rained last night, but we awoke to doves cooing, sun shinning, and beautiful weather. Clay returned to the real world and went to work, while the rest of us did our normal thing.... drank cafe Americain and had breakfast by the pool. While we ate, we planned our day.

We decided to go to Gourdon, which is a mid-century castle that is high up in the mountains. Connie would explore the city while Sue, Mark, Sheila and Gary went hiking. Here is a picture of it from a distance.

We pulled over to get a couple of pictures. When you tell Mark to stop..... Mark stops! It is sort of scary at times. That is another story but we did make it safely to Gourdon. Connie was dropped off and the others went hiking. Connie did her best to help the economy.... she attempted to purchase something from every store there.

The city is lots of twisting, turning sidewalks that go from one store to another. They have parfume, candy, art, linens, wood works, and several other businesses, but tourism is at the top of the list. This is a haven for bike riders. They come by bus and then start their rides from here. I don't understand this, since they do the easy part first (go down hill) and then the hard part (get back up the hill to catch the bus out).

Gourdon didn't have all the nice amenities that we've gotten used to while we've been in France. The public "water closets" leave a lot to be desired. Here's a picture of the women's urinal. Connie couldn't figure it out, but Sheila (woman of the world that she is....) had no trouble. You just look at the handles on the wall to determine if it is a front or rear facing urinal. The one below is rear facing.... so you back in, put your feet in the "feet mark", grab the hand rails and let her rip. We're not going to put in the blog what happened because it IS a "G" rated blog, but remember to ask Sheila about her results when you see her. Connie waited! After that fiasco, we ate lunch in a local open air restaurant.

We've had request for pictures of Gary and Clay. Gary is on the bottom, Clay on the top.

Here is a little something for you ladies to look at. This is the pool boy.... make that pool man. He has the most beautiful eyes and smile. We all look forward to seeing him on Tuesdays, and of courses we're always hoping the pool will break down so he'll have to come back out. Unfortunately, he doesn't speak english. But his French accent is so.... magnifique!

We're gonna close for the night..

a bientot
