Safe & Sound

All:

We were NOT able to get internet connections to update anything while in Italy, or our return to Paris the last couple of days. Sorry. Right now, we're all getting over our jet lag, so this will be our next to the last post of this trip.

While in Paris, Angela (Connie's daughter) finally tracked her Mom down. We couldn't remember the name of the hotel we were scheduled to stay at, so we didn't tell anyone where we could be found. Angela wasn't too happy when she finally found them, thanks to Sue remembering that they were staying across the street from the first hotel they used. (At least we know that turning 45 didn't ruin Sue's memory.... that'll come closer to 50). Angela called to tell Connie that a large Connie's back yard had split and fallen onto the neighbor's house. The tree surgeon is scheduled to come out on Monday.

Angela also forwarded the information that made the news in Dallas just a few days ago about their original flight to Dallas. Upon take off from Dallas on Apr. 20th, Sheila and Mark noticed a big vibration and then a loud bang. Shortly after that, the pilot announced that there was no problem, just a shift in baggage and things would be smooth sailing for the rest of the trip to Paris. WOW..... had we known then..... One thing for sure, we were aware of the previous unknown problem on our return trip, and we were not relaxed when we landed in Dallas with the 20 mph gusting winds yesterday. You can read about this in the links below.

Here is one of the pictures of the missing panel.

As expected, Sheila and Mark took an hour to clear customs, whereas Connie and Gary had to do a special customs screening because Connie had purchased candy (considered food by some customs agents) and officially declared "candy" on the customs form. What a waste of time... but they cleared in about 15 minutes. Angela picked all up from the airport and delivered everyone home safely.

Sheila is getting ready to go to Vegas, and Connie will follow in a couple of days, so Connie will close the final posting in a day or so. Everyone was actually looking forward to getting home, as they'd all drank and enjoyed themselves to the limit. Speaking of limit, we won't discuss the balance on their credit cards (Europe is sooooo expensive).

Later,

Sheila & Connie
